Charleston Heart Walk

Interested in the growth and well-being of our community? The City of Charleston is asking for your support of the City of Charleston's walking team in the annual Charleston Heart Walk. Your contribution will help pay for much needed research and education in the fight against cardiovascular diseases, while promoting a culture of physical activity and health in our city.

You can help by either signing up to join our walking team in raising money for this cause, or by making a donation online.

The American Heart Association's online fundraising website has a minimum donation amount of $25.00. If you prefer to donate less, you can do so by sending a check directly to the City Collector's Office, 915 Quarrier St., Suite 915, Charleston, WV 25301 .

We are planning a fundraiser for the WVDLC for the Monday night of the October interims which falls on October 8th.  We sincerely hope not to have any conflicts such as member fundraisers. 

It has been more than 3 years since we have had a fundraising event for the DLC, so I hope that all members will assist with this fundraiser as we prepare for 2008.

NRA Board Member and Senate Point Man for Gun Industry, Larry Craig, Arrested for Solicitation of Gay Sex in Twin Cities Airport Washroom

Golly Gee, Republican Presidential Candidate State and Local Chairs Have Been Falling Like Perverted Flies. Another One Bites the Dust: "US Senator Larry Craig resigned tonight as Senate co-chairman for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign." After reports of Craig's arrest, the Romney campaign made private a YouTube video in which Craig also praised Romney. Can't imagine why.

Several federal agencies are investigating a widening network of criminal cases involving the purchase and delivery of billions of dollars of weapons, supplies and other material to Iraqi and American forces, according to American officials. The officials said it amounted to the largest ring of fraud and kickbacks uncovered in the conflict here.

Not Good Enough

Alberto Gonzales, Karl Rove, George Bush, and their Republican cronies still haven't admitted any of their failures. The Attorney General scandal. Hurricane Katrina. The Iraq War. These problems won't get fixed by resignations.

While the Bush Administration tries to shuffle around their cronies into newly vacant positions, the Democratic Party is building a sustainable party organization to show every single one of them the door in 2008. Help Slam the Door on Tax Loopholes

Working Americans pay as much as 30 percent in taxes on their wages, while partners of hedge funds and leveraged buyout firms pay only 15 percent in federal taxes. It's just not fair. Partners of hedge funds and leveraged buyout firms should have to pay their fair share like everyone else.

Already, these firms have mobilized some of Washington 's most heavy-hitting lobbyists to influence Congress. “Money appears to be no object,” The Washington Post recently reported. “Private-equity and hedge funds control more than $1 trillion in assets.” More recently, The New York Times said "many major private equity firms have kicked up their lobbying spending."

Members of the U.S. House need to hear the voices of working men and women everywhere. We need your help to make sure everyone pays their fair share. Please take action here.
