April 11, 2008
Tomorrow morning – April 12, 2008 - in every county of the state Democrats will meet to select Delegates to the WV State Democratic Convention. If you’ve never attended any of these before this year it is imperative you attend. Evidently the platform committees omitted much of the agreed to language adopted in 2004 from the draft platform language that will be adopted this June.
Some of the omitted crucial language defines who we are as Democrats and deals with Choice, Family Planning, Human Rights, Domestic Violence Intervention & Prevention.
Kanawha County will meet in Chesapeake beginning at 10am. If Kanawha is not your county check at www.wvdemocrats.com to find out your Convention location and time.
It is important that you bring with you a signed and notarized slip of paper that says the following:
I (insert your full name here as it appears on your Voter Registration Card) am willing to be a Delegate to the WV State Democratic Convention. Sign the paper, put your precinct number on the page, your address and your Magisterial District on the paper as well. You can verify your Magisterial District by emailing Laura Phillips: LauraLive@aol.com.
I know Saturday is a very busy day for most people but this Convention is one where we really need your help, your attendance and your participation. Our aim is to reinsert the 2004 platform language that was omitted in this DRAFT Copy. We can’t do this without your help.
